We are currently seeking an experienced Rock Driller to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for operating drilling equipment and contributing to the safe and efficient progress of construction projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate hydraulic and pneumatic rock drill rigs (e.g., Atlas Copco D60, Furukawa DCR20)
- Drill blast holes in accordance with engineered patterns and depth specifications
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections and basic maintenance on drill equipment
- Ensure drill sites and access roads are kept clean, safe, and organized
- Record drilling activity and equipment condition accurately
- Collaborate with blasting teams to ensure accuracy and site safety
- Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate PPE at all times
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by site supervisors or safety personnel
Job Requirements
Language: English
Education: Diploma or apprentice training of 6 months to 2 years
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of drilling experience in quarry or heavy civil environments preferred
- Experience with Atlas Copco or Furukawa rigs is an asset
- Familiarity with quarry production methods and rock materials preferred
- Safety certifications such as WHMIS, First Aid, or Surface Miner are considered assets
- Physically capable of working in all weather conditions
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
- Comfortable reading drilling patterns and operating manuals
- Able to work safely around heavy machinery and in high-noise environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
